Harley Davidson Motorcycle
The Harley Davidson Motorcycle began in 1901 when William S. Harley
drew up the plans for a small engine. The engine was designed for use
in a regular pedal bicycle frame. Over the next two years Harley and
his childhood friend, Arthur Davidson, labored on their motor-bicycle in
a Milwaukee machine shop. Later on through many improvements and much
work the bigger engine and loop-frame design took it out of the motorized-
bicycle category and helped define what a modern Motorcycle would be for
years to come. In 1917, the US entered World War I and the military
demanded Motorcycles for the war efforts. Harley-Davidson provided about
15,000 machines to the World War I military forces. By 1920 Harley-Davidson
was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. The classic Harley Davidson
engines are V-twin engines and have a the dual fire ignition system. The
Harley now has electronic fuel injection as well. It is one of the most
well built motorcycles.
