Julie and I were tired of Adobe nagging us and making something as simple as reading a PDF feel harder than it needed to be. There are plenty of PDF apps out there, but we wanted one that was simple, easy to use and did what we needed when following our assembly guides. So we made Easy Reader: a straightforward, highly functional reader designed especially for makers, and useful to anyone who wants to open a document and get on with reading.

• PDF: manuals, plans and workshop instructions, with search, page thumbnails, contents, zoom, rotation and single-page or scrolling views.
• EPUB: e-books with chapter navigation, whole-book search and comfortable reading settings.
• DOCX: read Word documents and project instructions without a Word editor.
• Markdown and HTML: open local guides and documentation.
• TXT and RTF: read notes, instructions and plain text.
• Images: view PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP reference pictures.

Useful tools for real reading

• Reopen your files from the library and continue from saved reading positions.
• Keep several documents in tabs and restore your last session.
• Save named bookmarks, highlights and notes; export notes as text.
• Choose light, dark or warm/sepia reading. Adjust text size, line spacing and margins in reflowable documents.
• Read aloud using an installed local Windows voice.
• Print selected PDF pages, save an original copy, or export a PDF page as PNG.
• Make Pro your default PDF reader through normal Windows settings.

Your documents stay on your computer

Reader engines are bundled locally. Your documents are not uploaded for reading. Initial activation and occasional license checks need the internet; eligible offline use includes a grace period. Optional update checks contact makeCNC.

Easy Reader is especially useful for scroll saw users who want to read and print PDF assembly guides and pattern sheets exported from makeCNC Workshops FORGE. Use it alongside our growing collection of applications for creating patterns and enjoying woodworking. Open the PDF, check the detail and print the pages you need. For full-size patterns, choose Actual size / 100% in the Windows print dialog and verify a known printed dimension.

Good to know

Windows 10/11, 64-bit. This is a reader, not a Word editor, OCR tool or PDF editing suite. Notes and highlights stay in your local reading library and do not alter the original document. Scanned PDFs need text/OCR before text search or read-aloud works. For full-size workshop patterns, choose Actual size / 100% in the Windows print dialog and check a known printed dimension. Local Windows voices must be installed for read-aloud. Gallery pictures are feature illustrations.
