Trophy Faux Salmon
Taxidermy is a trend right now! But if you are like us, you aren’t so excited about the real thing. We prefer the faux version – even to go so far as those made on CNC Routers, Laser Cutting Machines with a Scrollsaw or even with fabric, foam and paper. These are Not real mounted hunting trophies. These are faux or artificial taxidermy projects inspired by our magical and beautiful creatures and meant to be crafty and inspirational.
These DIY taxidermy projects will give you a unique home decor piece without any of the guilt you may have about our friends of nature. And some of them are just plain cute!
Salmon, belonging to the family Salmonidae, are iconic migratory fish known for their incredible journey from freshwater rivers to the open ocean and back again to spawn. These resilient creatures are celebrated for their rich flavor, prized by both anglers and seafood lovers worldwide. Salmon species vary widely, including the vibrant pink of the sockeye, the majestic silver of the coho, and the distinctively spotted patterns of the Chinook, also known as king salmon. Fun facts about salmon include their remarkable ability to navigate vast distances, with some species traveling thousands of miles during their lifetime. Salmon are also renowned for their extraordinary sense of smell, allowing them to detect the unique chemical signatures of their natal streams, ensuring they return to spawn in the same location where they were born. Additionally, after spawning, salmon undergo physical changes, with their bodies transforming to a striking red coloration, signaling the end of their life cycle and the beginning of a new generation.
